New Clinical Librarian Project

Worcestershire Health Libraries are piloting a new service for ward staff at the Alexandra Hospital. From April 2014, for 3 months, David Chamberlain will pilot a face to face, electronic and paper evidence-based query service for all staff on the 6 surgical wards.

A new intranet page has been created that centralises Evidence-Based resources on a single page to make access easier. David will support staff in finding the latest information, guidelines and pathways to help deliver the most effective and efficient care.

The new service includes:

-Specifically designed Evidence-Based intranet page – with password free links to the latest resources (available to all staff)

-Face to face meetings with ward staff answering information queries

-Specific champions on the ward who can help and direct colleagues

-Books boxes delivered to the wards for staff to use on chosen subjects

-And the purchase of Dynamed – an evidence based summary database (free and available to all staff)

Working with Sarah King and Helen Pulis, the library service hopes to promote and support quality care

“This is a great opportunity to help staff on the shop floor, and deliver evidence-based information directly to the point of need”
