New specialty added to UpToDate: Palliative Care
This newly launched UpToDate specialty integrates the most current information on palliative care into recommendations that are relevant to clinical staff across many disciplines. Content includes comprehensive information on clinical and psychosocial issues and evidence-based recommendations for assessing and managing pain and non-pain symptoms.
The Palliative Care specialty includes:
• 90+ clinical topics — a list of topics for any specialty can be found through the “Contents” link on the top toolbar
• 45 new graphics — created specifically for palliative care topics
100+ contributors — authors and editors are clearly identified in each topic.
The Trust-wide subscription to UpToDate is managed by Worcestershire Health Libraries. Please contact us if you have any queries.

Focus group thank you
A big thank you to everyone who came to the Worcestershire health Libraries focus group today at the Charles Hastings Education Centre.
We had a great mix of staff and David Chamberlain has gathered loads of great information that we will use to shape our future services.
We look forward to seeing the focus group on a quarterly basis.

Journals’ Tables of Content Service (ToCS) from Worcestershire Health Libraries
Journals’ Tables of Content Service (ToCS) from Worcestershire Health Libraries
This is an easy way to bring our printed journals to your workplace if visiting a library is difficult:
We email you a scan of the Table of Contents (ToC) from a journal:
• You have a look to see if there are any articles of interest and email us your requests (up to a maximum of 2 per issue)
• We scan the article(s) back to you
It’s as simple as that!
Here is a list of the journals that we keep in our libraries. If you would like to receive the ToC of any of these, please contact me and we will do the rest!

Six Book Challenge Reminder
Six Book Challenge 2014
20th January 2014 – 30th June 2014
With only a month to go until the Six Book Challenge ends we would like to remind anyone who has joined but not completed to read your six books and pop your reading diary into one of the Worcestershire Health Libraries to ensure you are entered into the prize drawers.
It isn’t too late to join! Just ask in your local health library to sign up and away you go.
The Challenge invites you to pick six reads and record your reading in a diary in order to get a certificate and the chance to enter both a national prize draw to win a trip to London or Kobo e-readers as well as local prize draws.
You can read anything you like in print or online - books, magazine articles, websites, whatever suits you.
To get you started, Worcestershire public libraries have loaned a community collection of titles to the health libraries at Worcester, Evesham, Redditch & Kidderminster Hospitals.
