Fiction collection news

NEW FICTION BOOKS

Following on from the very successful Six Book Challenge which recently completed, the Rowlands Library has decided to increase the fiction section.  Although the next reading challenge doesn't start until 2014, we wanted to continue with a collection from the Hive and also increase the selection of books available.  We now have over 200 books on the shelves, from different genres.  These are available to loan and you can search our books at: www.hawks.nhs.uk

For more details, please contact the Rowlands Library on ext. 33760

NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries - update

NICE CKS service provides primary care practitioners with a readily accessible summary of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in respect of over 300 common and/or significant primary care presentations.  The service is regularly updated and new topics added as and when significant new evidence emerges.

Since its launch on 8 April 2013, NICE CKS has updated 50 topics and included four new topics provided by Clarity:

Generalised anxiety disorder
Common mental health problems
Miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy (2 CKS topics which count as one new topic)
Ovarian cancer

The site is experiencing good levels of usage with an average of 146,000 unique visitors per month since launch. The short list of new topics for development in 2014/15 has just been agreed between NICE and Clarity.
