Innovation Awards from Health Education England

Worcestershire Health Libraries have received two Sally Hernando Innovations Awards 2017 from Health Education England. These awards are given to library and knowledge services that use innovative new ideas to improve services and/or patient care.

Worcestershire Health Libraries recognition was for their work supporting patients through the Bibliotherapy and Reading to Patients projects.

These innovations involve setting up reading groups for patients with clinical and voluntary staff to improve mental health on the wards

“People listening to you…taking your views seriously even when you are unwell”

“ Could see the change in different patients…making a big effort to get their lives on an even keel. People who had not spoken before…read aloud I found that heart-warming”

Full details can be found by searching the Innovations database here: http://lks.kss.hee.nhs.uk/data/web/innovations.htm
